GRANT EXPANDS INNOVATIVE PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK TEENS TO SIX LOCAL MIDDLE SCHOOLS

(January 31, 2001) - Non-profit EMQ Children & Family Services today announced that more at-risk adolescents in Santa Clara County will be helped in preventing behaviors harmful to themselves and others-such as drug and alcohol abuse and violence- through a six-fold expansion of its innovative High Risk Adolescent Program (HiRAP). Designed to work with students, parents and teachers in underserved schools, the highly effective program will grow from one middle school to six with the help of a two-year, $150,000 grant from the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health . . .

EMQ RECEIVES $90,000 GRANT TO INCREASE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR TROUBLED CHILDREN

Knight Foundation to expand its support for parents of troubled children and encourage them to actively participate in planning their child's care. The funds will be used to create a Parent Involvement Coordinator position that will advocate for parents while giving them the tools and support to take a partnership role with EMQ staff in developing the plan of care for their child. Auxiliaries boost donation to EMQ Children & Family Services by 50%

CAMPBELL, Calif. (Aug. 20, 1999) - Three local volunteer groups today announced that the success of their retail fundraising efforts during the 1998-99 fiscal year has resulted in a marked increase in financial donations to the groups' beneficiary, EMQ Children & Family Services. EMQ provides treatment and support services for children with complex emotional, behavioral and social needs and their families. The groups include the Junior Auxiliary of EMQ, which operates The Butter Paddle gourmet kitchen and gift shop in Saratoga; the EMQ Guild, which manages The Happy Dragon Thrift Shop in Los Gatos; and the League of EMQ, which runs The Unicorn Thrift Shop in the Almaden Valley area of San Jose. Proceeds from sales at the three shops during 1998-99 totaled $607,000, a $200,000 increase over the previous year.
