Hollygrove Children & Family Services, based in Los Angeles, will merge with EMQ Children & Family Services in 2006. Founded in 1880 as the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society, Hollygrove has served over 15,000 children. In the 1950’s, they began providing residential services for abused or neglected children, serving up to 68 children on their campus. Today, Hollygrove is serving over 200 children with plans underway to provide more services and help more children and families.
Hollygrove (www.hollygrove.org) approached EMQ about possibly merging in 2005. Joint discussions between the board of directors and executive leadership concluded that a merger would allow even more children to be served in Los Angeles County. Jerry Doyle, CEO of EMQ Children & Family Services, states “This merger of two historic children’s agencies will create an agency that will continue to bring best practices for helping severely mentally ill children and their families as well allow a greater voice for ensuring the needs of our communities’ most vulnerable children are heard.”
