San Jose, Calif., May 23, 2005The Sobrato Foundation based in Cupertino, California, awarded a two-year $50,000 challenge grant to EMQ Children & Family Services for their Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Program. The grant will be used to help provide services to children who would otherwise go untreated, by enabling EMQ to hire extra clinical staff members.
"It is rewarding to invest in an organization like EMQ, that is committed to improving the capability of children and families to succeed despite tremendous obstacles," said Lisa Sobrato Sonsini, President of the Sobrato Foundation.
EMQ’s Vice President of Fund Development, Scott Staub, gratefully acknowledged the Sobrato Foundation’s generous gift. “As politicians in Sacramento argue over budget numbers and which programs to cut, young lives are at stake here in our community. Support from private foundations like the Sobrato Foundation is critical if we want to continue to attract the most qualified candidates for these positions.”
Three generations of the Sobrato family created the Foundation in 1996 based on their desire to share their success throughout Silicon Valley where their family development business has thrived for the last 45 years. The Sobrato Foundation is dedicated to helping create and sustain a vibrant and healthy community where all Silicon Valley residents have equal opportunity to live, work and be enriched. To accomplish its purpose, the Foundation invests in strong community-based organizations that promote self-reliance and economic independence, and positively contribute to the quality of life for economically, physically and emotionally challenged individuals.
