EMQ is proud of the comprehensive range of services we provide to children and families who struggle with serious mental illness. Part of our family-centered approach is to provide state-of-the-art psychiatric care to families who identify this as a need.

In some cases, psychiatric care includes the use of medication, which has been proven to be effective in treating some mental health conditions. If medication is prescribed for a child in our care, it is just one part of a comprehensive program of therapeutic services we provide for that child and family, including psychotherapy and/or counseling, and an array of other types of assistance as needed.

The treatment team that works with the child and family may include a therapist, Wraparound staff, and family partners in addition to the psychiatrist. The team approach allows us to closely monitor for side effects of medications and provides a wealth of information to guide medication decisions. In every case, the child and familyÐnot the medicationÐare the centerpiece of our care.
