Make a gift with lasting impact for children and families through a planned or legacy gift to EMQ Children & Family Services.
Planned Giving and Legacy donors become members of the James Lick Society, named after the San Jose businessman who gave EMQ its first planned gift in the late 1800s. Mr. Lick left $25,000 in his will to Eastfield, the children's home that later merged with Ming Quong to become EMQ.

Include EMQ in Your Will
The easiest and most common way for most people to make a lasting impact, is by including EMQ in your will. By having your attorney revise your will or add a simple amendment, you can make a charitable bequest of a dollar amount, specific property, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after providing for other heirs.
For example: "I give (dollar amount or percentage of estate) to Eastfield Ming Quong, Inc., DBA EMQ Children & Family Services [Tax ID #94-1254641], a California non-profit corporation, to be used for its exempt purposes."
Note: EMQ's legal name for tax purposes is the "Eastfield Ming Quong, Inc." Our tax ID number is 94-1254641.
EMQ recommends consulting an attorney when you make or modify a will.

Other Kinds of Planned Gifts
Planned gifts can provide you with enduring support while offering significant tax savings, increased income, better estate planning and permanent recognition. Check with your personal attorney, CPA, or investment advisor, or contact Scott Staub at 408-364-4015 or sstaub@emq.org.
Ways to give include:
- Life Insurance
One of the simplest ways to make a significant gift in the future is to name EMQ as beneficiary to receive all or a portion of the proceeds of a policy which is no longer needed for family protection. For more information, contact Scott Staub at 364-4015 or sstaub@emq.org.
- Retirement Plans
If you are planning to leave the funds remaining in your retirement plan after your lifetime to someone other than your spouse, much of the money may be lost to taxes. Naming a charity as the beneficiary of your retirement plan can help shield your retirement assets from heavy taxation.
To name EMQ as a beneficiary of your 401(k), 403(b), IRA or other retirement plan, please advise your plan administrator to designate your gift to:
Eastfield Ming Quong, Inc., DBA EMQ Children & Family Services
Tax ID # 94-1254641
251 Llewellyn Ave.
Campbell, CA 95008
If you are considering naming EMQ Children & Family Services as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, please consult your tax advisor or attorney for full advice on the effect of your gift.
- Real Estate Remainders
You can make a gift of a house or certain other real estate, while retaining the use of the property for as long as you live. You make the gift now, but retain the security of knowing you can continue to live in your home for life. The satisfaction of giving, as well as a tax deduction, are enjoyed now rather than later. For more information, contact Scott Staub at 408-364-4015 or sstaub@emq.org.
- Charitable Remainder Trusts
In the right circumstances, a charitable remainder trust can provide excellent tax benefits. This type of trust lets you set aside money or property for the benefit of EMQ. You receive a tax deduction for the year the trust is formed, but you continue to receive income from the trust for the rest of your life, after which the remainder of the assets in the trust pass to EMQ. - Charitable Lead Trusts
If your goal is to provide an inheritance for your children, but you would also like to make a significant charitable gift through your estate, a charitable lead trust can help you satisfy both objectives. This type of trust lets you set aside money or property for the benefit of EMQ. EMQ receives regular, fixed payments from the trust for a specific number of years. After that, the remainder of the trust passes to your heirs. More...
